Speaker Details
Libby Rippel, PSECU’s MXCC and CrossState’s 2024 CU Ambassador
Libby will be focusing their presentation on their CU Ambassador project, “Leadership Legacy Planning – MSR to Manager.”
Rippel’s project, focused on retention and recruitment, is setting out to create a program that bridges the talent gap between Member Service Representatives (MSRs) and leadership positions, without needing to leave their current positions.
Rippel’s retention program involves lectures, mock learning scenarios, hands-on experiences, guided career planning, and a mentor who will monitor progress and provide feedback. Ultimately, Rippel wants to expand learning paths to encompass all roles within the credit union, not just MSRs to Managers, and aspires for the program to become widely recognized as the go-to resource for leaders across various industries.
Speaker Bio
Libby Rippel
Elizabeth (Libby) Rippel, Member Experience Contact Center Operations Manager at PSECU, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2016, they were enrolled at UMBC as a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Pre-Med major when life steered them instead to State College, PA. Days after moving in, boxes still waiting to be unpacked, Libby interviewed with PSECU and ultimately accepted a position as a Service Advisor in the contact center’s Card Services department. Being in a new city and state, they were just looking for a full-time position that paid well but they quickly realized that they enjoyed the banking industry. They also discovered that she wanted to contribute more, and, after assisting management with additional tasks as assigned, decided that their “job” could become their career.
They researched the skills they would need to reach a new rung on the leadership ladderand enrolled at Penn State World Campus in 2018 to complete their bachelor’s degree, changing their major to Business Management. In their senior year, they completed an internship with The Borgen Project, a nonprofit committed to making poverty a focus of U.S. foreign policy. That opportunity allowed them to record and created marketing and recruitment materials for potential future interns and successfully raised funds for the non-profit. While balancing working full time for PSECU, attending Penn State full time, and completed an internship, they also achieved the Dean’s list both semesters their senior year.
In May 2021, Libby was promoted to their position as a Member Experience Contact Center Operations Manager at PSECU just days before they completed their Bachelor of Sciencein Business Management with a focus in Project Management and Marketing. Today they are completing a temporary assignment as PSECU’s Social Media Strategist, while also serving on committee’s related to strategic planning, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, and networking for emerging credit union leaders. They are also furthering their leadership education as part of the 2024 cohort of CUES Emerging Leaders and completing duel MBA’s at Penn State World Campus.
