Recruit, Retain, Mentor and Motivate in this Crazy Job Market
Shari Storm, CEO of Category 6 Consulting
The labor shortage – especially with young people – does not appear to be getting better any time soon. How can you recruit and retain talent when you don’t have the budget to pay what your competitors can? How can you make your organization more attractive to great employees within your current limitations? This lively, funny, interactive presentation gives straight-forward, applicable advice on how to build a reputation of being a place people want to work. This stand-out session shares strategies on building morale, mentoring rising stars, and keeping teams motivated over the long marathon that our jobs often are. And best of all, the advice is immediately actionable.
Financial Literacy Training
Greg Westwood, Senior Manager of CrossState Solutions
BSA Training
Joanne Broderick, Senior Manager of Compliance at CrossState
Credit union volunteers are required to complete annual Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) training. While the board of directors of a credit union may not require the same degree of training as operations personnel, their training should provide board members with sufficient understanding of the credit union’s risk profile and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulatory requirements. Without a general understanding of the BSA, it is more difficult for the board of directors to provide adequate oversight of the BSA/AML compliance program, including approving the written BSA/AML compliance program, establishing appropriate independence for the BSA/AML compliance function, and providing sufficient BSA/AML resources. The board of directors and senior management should receive foundational training and be informed of changes and new developments in the BSA, including its implementing regulations, the federal agencies’ regulations, and supervisory guidance.

Refresh – The Latest in Branch Transformation
Glenn Grau, PWCampbell
Modernizing your branches to best serve your multi-generational member, both existing and potential, is crucial in today’s competitive environment. How your branches look says a lot about your brand, your financial stability, and your commitment to the community. It can also play a key role in employee recruitment and retention. But what if a complete remodel or full-on renovation isn’t in the budget? Many credit unions are finding themselves in this predicament which is why “Refresh” has become a recent answer. This session will cover exactly what Refresh is and why it’s become a major strategy in a credit union’s retail branching strategy, the latest approaches for implementation, what elements constitute a refresh vs a remodel, and proven tiering initiatives to ensure a successful outcome that is right for your budget. Attendees will also review peer case studies that demonstrate the benefit of integrating technology into the branch as part of the refresh process, including the successes and the pitfalls.
You don’t need to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to “refresh” a branch. By the end of this session, you will know how to improve and modernize your retail branch network and increase profitability at fraction of the cost of a complete overhaul.

We will explore some of the essential things to consider and that are required for a seamless product implementation, penetration and ongoing communication. If not executed correctly, what seems like a good plan on the surface may hurt your brand and ability to deepen relationships.
