Speaker Bios
Lee Rubin
Kicking off the conference’s panel of keynote speakers is the ever-engaging Lee Rubin. His unique background as a Captain of the Penn State Football team and a Corporate Human Resources professional, has prepared him to deliver big-time talks on big stages.
He’s shared timeless truths on getting peak performance out of your team and joins us to deliver the five components of extraordinary teams.
Machines are evaluated based on the output of the entire unit, not the impressiveness of their individual parts. Extraordinary teams, like great machines, require certain components that hold their pieces together. While most organizations focus exclusively on building the skills of their individual members, elite organizations invest in the “stuff” that transforms a collection of talented individuals into extraordinary, machine-like teams.
Key points that you’ll walk away with include:
- Individuals must make sacrifices to achieve the team’s common goal
- Open and honest communication is the foundation for trust
- Daily, focused discipline is the key to consistency

Jessica joins us for her presentation, “The Robots are Coming! — Machine Learning/AI in Consumer Lending.” A day is coming (soon) when human beings are removed from the loan decision. Is your credit union talking about the impact to your lending portfolio and your delivery channels? In this one-hour session, Jessica will discuss the history of ML/AI in lending, the progression of automated decisions and the challenges presented to credit unions.
We will cover:
- How ML/AI replicates a loan decision
- Extending your credit risk appetite across space and time
- Regulatory concerns and challenges
- How confident are you in your metrics today?
- What problem will you solve? What problems will you create?
Liz Weber

Build Depth & Plan for Succession,” Liz Weber, CMC, CSP delivers straight-forward ideas on why and how you must build depth and develop an on-going succession planning process – not just a plan. The process is more than just creating a plan. The plan is more than just filling slots. Liz’s presentation shares logical, timely insights with her simple process for linking succession plans with the company’s strategic plan to ensure alignment, proper workforce planning, and targeted growth for your organization as well as with your team.
Tim Harrington
In his inspirational “Doorways to Success: Energizing Your Team to Create an Innovative Organization” presentation, Tim uses doorways as a metaphor. Doorways that attract you. Doorways that Block you. Doorways that confound you and doorways that repel you. The question is, what are the doorways your credit union needs to identify and open? The coming years will continue be a challenge for credit unions.
The competitive marketplace, technology, human resources issues and regulatory challenges will force you to re-evaluate your place in the financial services industry. Each of these challenges is also a key opportunity…a doorway. Tim uses his own paintings and insightful words to help you change your thinking and overcome internal roadblocks holding back your credit union and help you tap into the creative genius abounding in your people to push through to the successful future you want.
