Part-Time Collector – Hidden River Credit Union

Hidden River Credit Union, a 215 million-dollar credit union located in Pottsville, PA is seeking a part-time Collector. The Collector will be responsible for all daily activities, responsibilities, and operations associated with the credit union’s collection process.
Essential Functions:
- Represents the credit union in a courteous and professional manner in all member interactions.
- Manage loan delinquencies using Episys reports. Determines reasons for default, communicates with members, and takes appropriate actions to correct or bring loan current.
- Recommends actions for delinquencies, including loan remodification, repossession, charging off account, sending to third party collection agency, or attorney.
- Sends out all delinquent notices and follows up with phone calls and emails.
- Responds to all collection-related questions from branch staff.
- Maintains detailed records of all collection activity, including detailed documentation in Episys.
- Prepares monthly collection-related reports.
- Manages all member bankruptcy claims, including filing paperwork, attending hearings, and all necessary follow up.
- Files judgements and civil complaints and performs follow-up activities as necessary.
- Works with repossession agencies.
- Works with collection agencies in the collection of loans.
- Works with the credit union attorney as part of the collections process.
- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of all related policies, procedures, rules, and regulations applicable for the position, and keeps abreast of any changes.
- Evaluates current collection policies and practices; recommends changes to VP of Lending.
- Coordinate, centralize, administer, and report Collecto activities for efficiency and management purposes.
Required Qualifications and Skills/Abilities:
- Work related experience should include 1 or more years of broad credit union operational knowledge and experience. Experiences to include member service operations, problem solving and researching abilities, the understanding of basic financial information, and work experience within a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
- Analytical skills and organizational abilities.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Time management skills and the ability to multitask and manage projects.
- Ability to work with little supervision and can display a high degree of initiative and self-motivation is critical to the position.
- The position will require additional specialized training and educational experiences as a job requirement.
