Individuals with disabilities, along with their families, friends and caretakers, are invited to attend the “Financial Services & You Seminar” beginning at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, April 23, at CSIU Work Foundations+, 911 Greenough Street, Sunbury. Registration is required.
The seminar is presented by Service 1st Federal Credit Union and will feature expert panelists in the areas of finance, education and human services assisting people with physical and developmental disabilities.
It will be facilitated by Sarah Smith, a Member Service Representative at Service 1st’s Mifflinburg Branch. Last year, she was named CrossState Credit Union Association’s 2023 Credit Union Ambassador, for her efforts to highlight financial information specifically for the special needs community.
Smith is the mother of two young boys with disabilities, and she had often worried about how to best prepare for their financial futures.
“As I worked as a Member Service Representative over the last three years, I saw so many families like mine that did not know how our services and products could help them,” Smith said. “I wanted to find a way to change that and give these families the direction they need.”
Helpful information is already available at www.service1.org/servicesandyou, and now guests of the Financial Services & You Seminar will be able to hear from experts first-hand and have their own questions answered. They include representatives of Service 1st, SUNCOM Industries, Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) and the Pennsylvania Treasury.
