Penlanco FCU Raises Over $15,000 for Power Packs Project

Information provided by Penlanco

On Saturday October 14, 2023 Penlanco Federal Credit Union hosted its Fourth Annual Designer Purse Bingo at the Farm and Home Center in Lancaster. Penlanco FCU selects a recipient for this event each year, with this year’s recipient being the Power Packs Project. Power Packs Project is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that aims to improve the mental and physical health of children by helping their parents provide nutritious meals over weekends when school breakfast and lunch programs are unavailable to them.

Penlanco FCU’s CEO Stacey Remick said, “No child should wonder if they will eat this weekend, and no parent should feel the stress of not being able to provide this necessity to their child. We are thrilled that with the help of many sponsors, donors, volunteers, and over 225 attendees, we are able to provide $15,086.55 to help feed food insecure children in our community — that’s over 15,000 meals for children and families in need.”

Penlanco FCU’s next Bingo event is October 12, 2024, with the recipient to be determined. Penlanco FCU was formed in 1938 to serve PPL Electric Utilities employees. In 2020, Penlanco FCU began offering membership to other employer groups and now serves the employees of PPL Electric Utilities, City of Lancaster, Brubacher Excavating, Talen Energy, MVE Group, Seth Energy and Reliant Heating and Cooling, among others. Penlanco FCU also serves First Responders serving with the Blue Rock Regional Fire District, Mountville Fire Company No. 1, and the Lancaster Township Fire Department. Penlanco FCU is actively seeking additional employer groups.
