Mountain Laurel FCU Hosts First Financial Reality Fair for Local High Schools
It’s never too late or too early to learn the importance of finances. To jumpstart that education, Mountain Laurel FCU hosted a Financial Reality Fair for three local high schools, St. Marys Area, Johnsonburg Area, and Cameron County. This was the first Financial Reality Fair ever held for these schools.
About 150 students participated, exploring what life after high school looks like through 17 booths manned by 30 volunteers.
“This was the first Financial Reality Fair held in the St. Marys Area with plans to turn it into an annual event,” said Rena Sennet of Mountain Laurel FCU. “Along with the students, the volunteers enjoyed participating in the event and expressed interest in returning next year.”
The event was a success thanks to vendors and volunteers from the community: Community Education Center, North Central Regional Planning and Development Center, OVR, CAPSEA, Northern PA Regional College, Art Heary & Sons, Elk County Reality, St. Marys Insurance, The City of St.Marys, The Guidance Center, Kinetic by Windstream, Salvation Army, Stackpole Hall Foundation, St. Marys Boys & Girls Club, Elk County PA Career Link, and Community Education Center.
