Longtime Treasurer of Hazleton School Employees Credit Union Passes Away at 83
Clarence H. John, longtime treasurer of Hazleton School Employees Credit Union, recently passed away at the age of 83. Clarence took over the role from Karl Young in the early 1970s and saw the credit union move from an organization that used handwritten entries in paper passbooks and was run out of his home into the large, modern financial institution it is today.
In addition to his commitment to the Hazleton School Employees Credit Union, Clarence was an educator for over 40 years in the Hazleton Area School District, served as an advisor for the Future Business Leaders of America, and as a boys’ basketball coach at two different schools.
