CrossState’s Conway Speaks at GAC, Accepts Trustee Award for Pennsylvania

Patrick Conway, President & CEO of CrossState and Board Chair of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), took the stage at the general session of America’s Credit Unions’ Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) yesterday, delivering key insights on the strength of Leagues and the impact of credit unions in their communities.

“Advocacy isn’t just something Leagues do—it’s who we are,” said Conway. “What makes our advocacy so impactful is the role leagues play as the linchpin of this work. It’s not just about local, state, and federal advocacy—though, of course those efforts are essential. 

“Whether it’s working side-by-side with elected officials to help shape policies, partnering with credit unions to share your stories, collaborating with America’s Credit Unions, or engaging with regulators to address industry challenges, we’re working on your behalf. Through our efforts, we build more than relationships—we build trust, credibility, and influence at State Capitols and here in Washington, DC.”

Later in the evening, Conway, Christina Mihalik, CrossState’s SVP, Government Relations, and Ron Celaschi, President & CEO of Patriot FCU, proudly accepted the prestigious Trustee Award on behalf of Pennsylvania at the PAC Chairman’s Reception, hosted by America’s Credit Unions’ President & CEO Jim Nussle. 

The Trustee Award is presented annually to the state that achieved the greatest dollar increase in credit union political fundraising over the previous year—an achievement that underscores the dedication of Pennsylvania’s credit union community to advocacy and grassroots engagement.
