CrossState’s 2024 CU Ambassador Inspires New Era of Succession Planning
CrossState held its annual Credit Union Ambassador Contest on Monday, May 20, 2024, during its Annual Convention in Atlantic City, NJ. CrossState is pleased to announce the 2024 Credit Union Ambassador, Libby Rippel, MXCC Operations Manager at PSECU.
Rippel’s project, focused on retention and recruitment, set out to create a program that bridged the talent gap between Member Service Representatives (MSRs) and leadership positions, without needing to leave their current positions.
“We at CrossState are very proud to have Libby as the 2024 Credit Union Ambassador,” CrossState President & CEO Patrick Conway said.
“Leadership Legacy Planning — MSR to Manager,” involves lectures, mock learning scenarios, hands-on experiences, guided career planning, and a mentor who will monitor progress and provide feedback. Ultimately, Rippel wants to expand learning paths to encompass all roles within the credit union, not just MSRs to Managers, and aspires for the program to become widely recognized as the go-to resource for leaders across various industries.
“This being the second time I’ve competed [in the contest]; the process was a lot less stressful since I am familiar with the program format,” Rippel added. “The support from industry peers and my credit union was very empowering. Many individuals from diverse backgrounds offered valuable resources to strengthen the program I was developing. I even enlisted my father, a former college professor, to proofread my final submission paper. As someone passionate about personal growth and mentorship, it was challenging to concisely explain my ideas. Now, as the ambassador, I remain overjoyed, almost expecting to wake up from an incredible dream—I’m still waiting for it to sink in.”
Rippel will serve as the Credit Union Ambassador throughout the remainder of 2024 and part of 2025. As Ambassador, they will share their knowledge and research on public platforms and channels through several opportunities provided by CrossState.
